are you considered a genius when you have photographic memory?
its because i have photographic memory and i can really remember anything i see like if i just look but i dont think im a genius because if i only hear something i forget it eventually unlike if i see it so im confused they told me my IQ was about 160 and i dont know about the iq numbers if that is good or what so yeah some one help me with this question please

I’m a 160 as well congrats, 139 is genius status, enjoy it, but photographic memory is not a symptom of that I swear.
No, eidetic memory does not actually affect IQ, though it’s easy to see how it would be an advantage academically and could easily be mistaken for genius in some settings; of course that’s not to say that you aren’t a genius as well though.
An IQ of 160 is enormous by the way, the average range being around 90 to 110.
Although there is a very loose connection between memory and intelligence having a photographic memory generally does not affect your IQ score. Although if you can also think spatially as I can then it will certainly help with certain questions on an IQ test. By the way it is actually possible for anyone to rehabilitate their memory to the point where they can go back and see things as clearly as if they were looking at them in present time. Memories never get erased, most people simply can’t access them without proper training. Every moment of our lives is stored, all the sights sounds and even smells and it is possible to re-experience them all. Anyway I think the reason we all associate memory with intelligence is because when we were kids we always considered the kids who knew all the answer to be smart. And well they may indeed have been smart the truth is all they were really doing was memorize answers out of a book. In other words, knowing all the answers on Jeopardy does not mean you are intelligent it just means you have a good memory for facts.
No, photographic memory alone does not make you a genius. You’re just wired a different way to remember information than many people. However, it may give you an upper hand towards remember more information over a period of time than if you just heard everything. Our eyes bring in 80% of information while our ears only being in 10%.
